Thanks and Contact Info
Thanks
I am very grateful to all the far-flung advisors I met over the internet that helped me design and troubleshoot my system.
- My biggest thanks go out to Gary Reysa, whose site BuildItSolar.com is the motherlode of information - but even more for his generous, patient, and detailed help to a newbie getting started.
- Alan Rushforth of Rushforth Solar stuck with me and provided crucial and insightful long-distance diagnoses to some problems I encountered.
- Scott Davis was a great help via his site and his Yahoo Group SimplySolar.
- My buddy Tom "Mr. Natural" Niedermeyer was my electronics consultant, and gets the credit for coming up with the elegant relay designs.
- John Canivan provided advice on electronics, and even a prototype of a simple thermistor-based temperature tester for the arrays.
- My old friend Matt Grade showed up one day with a couple of good fresh ideas on how to re-do the too-shallow trench.
- Among the many others who assisted me directly, I would like to especially thank Tom Sullivan, Kenneth Wersinger, Paul Melanson, and many others whose full names I never learned. Hats off to you all!
And big thanks to Sherry Bolden, the student intern who did so much great work on the collector arrays, helped me get the glazing prepared and installed, wrestled with the heat exchanger pipes with me, and helped make the insulation sandwich for the trench. And to Chris Haggard for pushing through on some of the hottest days on record to help get the collector frame built, the panels installed, the trench dug, and the pipes run to the basement.
